Katter’s Australian Party is Queensland’s only regional-based political party.

Founded by Bob Katter in 2013, the Party has elected representatives in the Federal Parliament in Bob Katter, and three Members in the Queensland Parliament. They are KAP Leader Robbie Katter (Traeger), Deputy Leader Nick Dametto (Hinchinbrook), and the longest-serving State Member, Shane Knuth (Hill).

Headquartered in Townsville, the KAP stands for a fair go for all Australians, the restoration of personal freedoms, reward for hard work, prosperity through job creation, establishment of infrastructure and support for Australian-owned businesses.

The KAP believes governments are accountable to the Australian people for the management of outcomes that protect and enhance both the social and economic fabric of the Australian people and the sovereignty and independence of the nation.

We see the role of government as providing the building blocks of economic prosperity through the application of policies which promote an advanced modern mixed economy, underpinning the goal of full employment, an equitable distribution of income, and rising living standards, opportunity and equality before the law for all Australians.

The acceptance of personal responsibility and accountability is the cornerstone of a just, tolerant and law-abiding citizenry.

Built from the ground up in North and North-West Queensland, KAP policies come from an appreciation of the people, places, and cultures of the regions where people have earned what they have in a harsh and unforgiving land.

Policies are borne of the values of self-reliance, a right to enjoy what’s theirs, to live off the fruits of their own labour, respect of one’s neighbours, for private property, and a striving for self- improvement.
